🎃 Our Visit to The Haunt PA 👻

Located on the old carnival grounds of the Schaefferstown Fire Company is The Haunt PA, an old school style haunted attraction! Back for their 4th year of FEAR, The Haunt PA aims to please all spooky lovers! You won’t encounter any animatronics or high-end special effects, but what you will encounter is a passionate cast that truly brings The Haunt to life!
We arrived at The Haunt PA on quite literally a perfect night; clear skies, moon shining brightly, and just enough of a breeze to send shivers down our spines! These guys truly aim to be an affordable haunt to bring the entire family to. Their general admission price on Friday & Saturday nights is $15. NEW for 2024 are BLACKOUT nights, every Sunday evening, for just $10! We had the pleasure of experiencing the BLACKOUT version of The Haunt PA!
The Haunt PA is operated by an all volunteer crew & they just ooze love & passion for all things Halloween! The ring leader of this passionate crew is Missy, who is always such a wonderful host for our crew! Missy is always out & about ensuring her patrons are having a spooky fun time! Something we’ve come to love about The Haunt PA is the intimate and personal experience, as they’ll happily send you in groups as small as 2. It’s always a bit more nerve-wracking when you don’t have safety in numbers.
Once you stepped foot inside The Haunt PA be prepared for a 25 minute adventure that throws quite literally a little bit of everything your way (including dentures - YUCK!). They truly utilize every available inch of space as you weave in and out of several small buildings and different mazes constructed from wood pallets. You won’t encounter hardly any store bought props, as almost everything is hand picked & built for the haunt. Some of our favorite scenes included:
Just moments inside the haunt you experience a quiet lull in the action. We could hear the rustling of the leaves on the trees & not much else. As we rounded a dark corner a perfectly placed car horn delivered a quick spine-tingling startle!
A long hallway littered with creepy dolls from every which direction. Definitely lots of opportunity for a good actor scare in here!
An insane asylum with white glowing masks plastered all over the walls was a cool visual.
A creepy dentist office that was immersive enough to give us a toothache!
Cromwell’s funeral scene was eerie & reeked of rotting flesh!
An unethical nurse admitted one of our members for testing & locked her away in a dog crate!
Our skin was crawling & quite itchy in the blacklight lit spider hallway!
Easily the most high-tech scene featured a zombie containment chamber with some cool visual effects!
The Haunt PA truly “rides or dies” on their actors to put forth engaging interactions & to provide the scare factor! This young scare team certainly brings the passion and energy, that’s for sure! There was a good mix of actors using skits/dialogue & quick pop-out interactions to engage with our crew. Some of our favorite characters encountered were: The groundskeeper, Pennywise, The Butcher girl, Cromwell’s wife, and the dentist! Kudos to the whole cast for your passion & energy!
After exiting the haunt be sure to snag a group picture at one of the several photo-op areas on the grounds! Also be sure to grab a bite to eat at The Dead End Cafe or Munchiezpa food truck! We really enjoyed checking out the items at Lori’s Creations & Designs (creepy dolls) & Awakened Arts by Alexis (crystals).
The Haunt PA is proof that you don’t need a huge budget or massive animatronics to still provide a spooky fun experience! Their haunt breathes passion for Halloween and it doesn’t go unnoticed! You can bring the whole family to The Haunt PA to enjoy a dose of Halloween fun. And at $10-$15 a person, you won’t find much of a better haunt bargain out there than that! If you’re looking to kick it old school while still having a FRIGHTFULLY FUN experience, consider a visit to The Haunt PA!
