Legends of the Fog has returned in 2024, celebrating their 18th season of serving up spooky fun! While Legends of the Fog certainly isn’t new to the haunt industry, they’ve really upped the ante the past few seasons and have rapidly blossomed into one of Maryland’s top haunted attractions! Featuring four nerve-wracking attractions that’ll leave you trembling in fear, these guys are Maryland’s only haunted attraction ScreamPark (possessing multiple attractions with a hayride)! We’ve been visiting these guys since our squads inaugural season in 2016 (5th visit in 9 years). One thing for certain, Legends of the Fog continually improves & enhances their experience, driving us to return again and again!
Located in Aberdeen, Maryland not too far off the beaten path is Legends of the Fog! Boasting four haunted attractions and a large & lively midway, you're guaranteed to endure at least 60-90 minutes of spooky fun! As you venture away from the parking lot & towards the lively midway, your eyes are drawn to the ominous Legends of the Fog archway! Eerily lit with purple spotlights & fog pouring from the sign, this archway serves as an excellent backdrop for your first group picture of the evening! If you snagged tickets online you’re funneled directly into the midway, otherwise swing by the ticket both & snag your tickets!
There’s lots to do & see within the newly expanded midway here! Several food trucks were serving up all sorts of scrumptious eats! A large bonfire serves as an excellent spot to warm up on bone-chilling evenings! Test your luck at several spooky themed carnival games or test your fate on the electric chair (it’s an ELECTRIFYING experience)! If you’ve ever wanted to gain a glimpse into being buried alive, now’s your chance, as you can submit yourself to partake in a live burial simulator! Several roaming spooks were making their rounds, inciting a great mixture of laughs & screams! Several photo-ops are available for capturing your commemorative group photos! Don’t forget to swing by the well stocked merchandise booth, which features a brand new shirt design for 2024! And be forewarned, one of those porta-potties may have you crapping your pants before you even step foot inside to do your business!
Legends of the Fog offers four very different haunted attraction experiences - truly something for every type of haunt guru! You’ll have the pleasure of experiencing The Farewell Hotel, Cornstalkers Haunted Maze, SlaughterHouse, and The Haunted Hayride! The attractions here used to be experienced in a linear fashion, where you traversed through one after another with minimal to no break in between! In recent years they’ve switched things up, as the hayride now has a separate queue line from the other three attractions. The Hotel, Corn Maze, and Slaughterhouse are still experienced in a linear fashion, which means enjoying the attractions one after another, with little to no wait in between! So now you can enjoy the midway festivities throughout your adventure! We had the pleasure of catching up with Patrick, owner of Legends of the Fog, prior to kicking off our visit. It’s always fun chatting with Patrick, as he oozes passion for Halloween & always genuinely engages with our squad. After catching up with Patrick, we eventually set forth towards The Haunted Hayride to officially commence our evening's festivities!
The Haunted Hayride - “Scream, squirm, hide… just don’t get caught by the fog”! Nestle into the hay and prepare for a ~20 minute, action-packed, and exhilarating hayride adventure. Your hayride adventure commences on a thrilling & visually stunning note. The wagon nestles underneath dozens of beautifully carved jack-o-lanterns dangling from the trees, fog begins surrounding the wagon, and then the Infamous pumpkin creature comes soaring through the sky, warning us about the creatures lurking within the fog! Impressive audio and visual special effects were utilized to fully immerse the audience, leaving us jaw-dropped as we pulled away! As we proceeded forth on this thrilling and spine-tingling journey we traversed through a plethora of scenes. The Howling Hills Cemetery was swarming with blood-thirsty zombies, pouncing on the hay wagon from all directions! We passed through a gigantic & visually stunning sunken ship, which made for an incredible facade to the swamp/bayou scene! The mischievous pirates & swamp creatures lurking within the swamp certainly delivered several hair-raising startles! We trespassed on the property of several hillbillies who released their man-eating bear on us. Countless flesh-eating werewolves pounced on the wagon and nearly devoured our limbs. Scene after scene we were thoroughly impressed with the keen attention to detail in crafting each set! There’s truly not a single moment of downtime on this unrelenting hayride adventure, so hold on for dear life & pray that you have what it takes to survive the FOG!
The Farewell Hotel - Check into The Farewell Hotel at your own risk, as you may never escape the horrors that lurk within this sinister hotel. As you step up to the check-in desk you’ll be greeted by an unruly bellhop, who commences your hotel stay on an unnerving note! It’s truly the Hotel staff throughout your stay that make this experience anything but peaceful. Their menacing & energized engagements were nightmare inducing. An eerie bellhop welcomed us into his elevator, and then things went south. We went violently descending towards the basement of the hotel and boy were we thrashing around this elevator… when they say “hold on to something”, they mean it! We traversed through countless immersive scenes such as the Kitchen, Winchester Pub, Laundry Room, Greenhouse, Living quarters, Library, and more! You truly feel as though you’re traversing through a decrepit and nerve-wracking Hotel. Legends of the Fog truly struck gold with The Farewell Hotel, as it’s VERY rare to see a Haunt stick so incredibly perfect to a specific theme! We encourage you to move swiftly through The Farewell Hotel before one of the menacing & disturbing inhabitants turns you into a permanent fixture in this Hotel or Horrors!
Cornstalkers Haunted Maze - We’ll be honest, our squad generally isn’t a huge fan of haunted corn mazes, but Legends of the Fog is onto something with their Cornstalkers Haunted Maze! This gargantuan cornfield is turned into a maze of twists and turns, with no shortage of spooks and surprises throughout! That’s right folks, this cornfield is truly a MAZE! It’s up to you to find your way out. Signs along your journey will try to help, or maybe hinder you, as they try to entice you towards “safety”! Narrow passageways were cut through the towering cornstalks, making for one unnerving adventure. At times the cornfield goes eerily quiet and all you hear is the rustling of the corn, and then BAM! A perfectly timed spook pounces on you to deliver a hair-raising startle! Such a simple but VERY effective attraction, as there’s truly no set-design, props, or animatronics to speak of besides the cornstalks & the sneaky creatures that lurk within. In one section of the cornfield, fog from a nearby shack was spewing into and nestling in the cornfield, which further enhanced the creep factor. The fog also helped to disorient us, as it limited our vision of what awaited us ahead, allowing the spooks to capitalize on several more spine-tingling startles! Hopefully you have what it takes to navigate this unrelenting cornfield of mayhem!
SlaughterHouse - Step right up to the Vanguard Meat Processing Plant, which recently had its doors closed due to “foul play”! If you’ve ever wanted to feel as though you are cattle venturing through a meat processing center, well here’s your chance! This ~7 minute adventure is action-packed and truly assaults all of your senses! Be prepared to endure a sensory overload, as the Legends of the Fog team pulls out all the stops with impressive audio & visual special effects, including quite a few gruesome animatronics! You’ll be subjected to blood and gore galore on this unrelenting quest. You’ll traverse through a chicken coop, several Slaughterhouse scenes, a butcher shop, and more! Within one scene we encountered a meat grinder that devoured a poor soul turning the victim into ground meat and blasting our squad with the blood of the victim (air & water sprayer).The meat processing plant workers were deranged and fully immersed in their roles, delivering countless startling engagements. The exhilarating energy was effectively carried from start to finish, making for an adrenaline packed experience. Just when you think you’ve nearly escaped, you’re thrust into a strobe-lit chain-link fence maze! The music was blaring, the fog was plentiful, and the spooks were unrelenting in their attack. Our crew got split up in this mind bending maze, leaving us to fear we’d never escape. Your best bet is to find safety in numbers, otherwise you’re likely the next victim to be skinned & hung on the SlaughterHouse walls!
As we fled the SlaughterHouse and found ourselves back in the midway, our squad found ourselves raving about the Legends of the Fog experience for 2024! These guys truly never fail to surprise us, continually improving year after year! Our squad generally visits Legends of the Fog every other year and there’s always quite a few notable changes each time we return. We love that Legends of the Fog is always trying to find new ways to keep the experience fresh, even for annual visitors! Of course we met up with Patrick & Robin, owners of the haunt, once more to share our thoughts on this year's experience. Something we love about these guys is their genuine interest in wanting constructive criticism! Patrick & Robin are always seeking ways to better their offerings, and it certainly shows in the product that they turnout year after year! What used to be a much more family friendly show back in 2016, has truly blossomed into an immersive, heart-pounding, and first-class haunted attraction experience! Legends of the Fog has truly put themselves on the map as a force to be reckoned with!
Legends of the Fog returns for one final weekend for the 2024 season, commencing on Halloween Night (10/31). For their final weekend of the 2024 season, Legends of the Fog kicks up the intensity with their BLACKOUT event! This isn’t your traditional blackout experience, as Legends of the Fog has truly crafted a creative & unique horror experience for their final weekend. The Haunted Hayride will be overrun with your favorite horror icons! The Farewell Hotel has experienced an unnerving power outage, leaving you to navigate this Hotel of Horrors in complete darkness! Find your way through Cornstalkers Haunted Maze with nothing but the light of a glowstick. The Legendary Sinister Circus Clowns have taken over the SlaughterHouse, taking this attraction to new extremes! From what we’ve heard, this BLACKOUT weekend is a MUST-SEE event, even if you’ve already experienced Legends of the Fog earlier this season!
Legends of the Fog did not disappoint, delivering one of the most well rounded haunt experiences of our 2024 haunt tour! This is truly a testament to the incredibly talented team here at Legends of the Fog. The cast & crew has truly become a professional group of haunters, delivering engaging skits, startling encounters, and inciting blood-curdling screams! The build team continually impresses with their consistent stream of new and enhanced scenes year after year, always more detailed & elegantly crafted than the year before! There’s certainly no shortage of SPOOKY FUN lurking within the fog! If you think you have what it takes to survive the fog, then be sure to pay Legends of the Fog a visit before it’s too late! What an all around impressive experience for 2024, JOB WELL DONE!
