Overall Feedback: Kim’s Krypt definitely had its ups and downs throughout the night. Some of the flaws/kinks that we picked up on are probably being worked on as it is only Kim’s Krypts opening weekend. All of our group members hadn’t visited this haunt in 2 years and we were truly amazed by the amount of changes and improvements that Kim’s has made. Each and every attraction had a mass overhaul of changes. Our members honestly couldn’t remember anything about the haunt as everything was that new. Horror of Menges Mill, Haunted Mill, and Dark Despair were definitely the high points of the night. Each of these attractions had there own unique features that either scared, creeped out, or messed with our members minds. The actors in the Haunted Mill and Horror of Menges Mill had great skits and came through on the interaction that we missed through the first few attractions. The biggest downfall across the board was the lack of actors and interaction throughout the haunt. The biggest lack of actors was seen in the Terror Trail and House of Eyes. Most of the actors that we encountered in these two haunts made what seemed to be minimal efforts to interact with our group. However, lack of actors has seemed to be a common theme at multiple haunts we’ve attended this year. We’d love to see Kim’s Krypt and their actors up the intensity to provide a more frightening experience. Overall Kim’s Krypt continues to grow and improve each year. There is definitely the space and potential to continue to grow into one of the best attractions in the area. Something that our group picked up on was the lack of food available for purchase but this may be because of the typical lower turnout at haunts during the month of September. Kim’s does feature a large gift shop with a wide variety of apparel and souvenirs available for purchase. We love the fact that the owner, Kim Yates, is always out and about interacting with her customers and shows great concern for their experience. York Fright Review Squad definitely enjoyed our evening at Kim’s Krypt. We spent over 2.5 hours at this haunt and enjoyed ourselves the entire time. As we mentioned above the biggest improvement we’d like to see is more of the actors upping the intensity which will ultimately better the atmosphere of the overall haunted attraction. Kim’s Krypt is definitely one of the unique haunts in the area and our group encourages you to pay them a visit. We can guarantee that you will enjoy your night. When you visit make sure to tell them that York Fright Review Squad sent you!! As always, if you have any questions about our review of this attraction please let us know.
Individual Attraction Review:
Attraction Name: House of Eyes
Overall Attraction Rating (scale of 1-10): 6
Attraction Scare Factor Rating (scale of 1-10): 6
Actor Rating (scale of 1-10): 5
Likes: This attraction seemed almost completely new since the last time we visited! The House of Eyes utilized a lot of pop scares. There were definitely some great scenes and awesome props utilized in this attraction!
Dislikes: We were expecting to have eyes on us the entire time through the haunt but we often felt all alone as there was dead space between scenes. The actors in this attraction did not interact with our group which often left us just walking straight through each scene, which is ashame because a lot of the scenes were unique and well put together. We’d like to see more actors to help limit the dead space and the actors that are utilized should interact and present more of an act/skit.
Attraction Name: Terror Trail
Overall Attraction Rating (scale of 1-10): 6
Attraction Scare Factor Rating (scale of 1-10): 5
Actor Rating (scale of 1-10): 6
Likes: This attraction also seemed to feature a lot of change and improvements. The trail was definitely a good length walk through! There was a lot of neat props. The trail had a very erie atmosphere to it during the entire duration of the haunt. We did enjoy a few of the scenes and the skits performed by the actors in this attraction.
Dislikes: The Terror Trail is a pretty big outdoor walkthrough but unfortunately that lead to a lot of good actor hiding spots that were not utilized. Actors were often just jumping out, yelling, and then headed right back for their hiding spot. They didn’t seem to even attempt to interact with our group. We were quite confused when there was a Haddonfield scene but a Michael Myers did not present himself until a few scenes later. Michael Myers himself however was creepy and played his part very well.
Attraction Name: Dark Despair
Overall Attraction Rating (scale of 1-10): 8
Attraction Scare Factor Rating (scale of 1-10): 6 (10/10 for individuals who are afraid of the DARK!)
Actor Rating (scale of 1-10): 0 (no actors utilized)
Likes: Kim’s Krypt came through for us on this attraction. Our group has been discussing that a simple and totally dark maze would make for a great haunt. Dark Despair is exactly as it sounds. It is nothing but a PITCH BLACK maze that definitely confuses the heck out of you just moments after entering. There were no actors utilized in this attraction however, there was no need for them. Being in the darkness by yourself with erie music playing in the background was enough to send a few tingles down your spine (that’s correct, you go through this attraction completely by yourself). This haunt is may not be for individuals who are afraid of the dark as there is not one speck of light from the time you enter until the time you exit.
Dislikes: None!
Attraction Name: Kim’s Krazy Maze
Overall Attraction Rating (scale of 1-10): 7
Attraction Scare Factor Rating (scale of 1-10): 6
Actor Rating (scale of 1-10): 7
Likes: A few really good scenes. The actors interacted with our group throughout this attraction. They utilized crawling and tight spaces to make for a suspenseful journey. This attraction like all of the others featured a lot of improvements and changes. We heard a lot of screams coming from Kim’s Krazy Maze and witnessed multiple patrons running from this attraction in fear.
Dislikes: Would’ve loved to see more CLOWNS in the maze! There was definitely some dead spaces which kind of took away from the atmosphere of this attraction. Overall, our group was pleased walking away from this attraction.
Attraction Name: Horror of Menges Mill
Overall Attraction Rating (scale of 1-10): 8
Attraction Scare Factor Rating (scale of 1-10): 7
Actor Rating (scale of 1-10): 9
Likes: There were definitely major major changes and improvements in this haunt. This attraction almost seemed completely different than what we remember from our last visit. The actors did a fantastic job in this attraction. We had quite a few encounters with some creepy and quite odd individuals. The skits presented by the actors fit perfectly with what the scene was displaying. This attraction was by far a group favorite of the night! The lady in the white dress at the very beginning of this attraction definitely did an OUTSTANDING JOB setting the tone and atmosphere for the rest of the haunt.

Attraction Name: Haunted Mill
Overall Attraction Rating (scale of 1-10): 8
Attraction Scare Factor Rating (scale of 1-10): 7
Actor Rating (scale of 1-10): 8
Likes: This was our last attraction of the night and we definitely left on a good note. Two of our favorite scenes were the dot room and the crazed patient room. We were amazed by the length of this attraction as we were constantly questioning if we’d ever make it out. The Haunted Mill featured more unique scenes and some one of a kind props that we’ve never seen before. The erie, creepy, and suspenseful atmosphere was carried throughout our entire journey through this haunt.
Dislikes: The only downfall was yet again more dead space. This attraction could definitely be a top notch haunt with the addition of more crazed and creepy actors.
